| What is Ringers? |
The SGL “RINGERS” Tournament Our SGL 2009-10 Ringers event is a unique competition that occurs over five (5) weekly outings played at the SAME course each time. This season’s Ringers will be played at the KEN McDONALD GOLF COURSE in Tempe. In other words, players have the opportunity to play that course over five separate times/rounds; and while you do not have to make all five outings, a player certainly gains advantage by playing all five times. The concept is simple. You post ONE final scorecard at the conclusion of our fifth Ken McDonald tournament that reflects your BEST hole score for each one of the 18 holes. Each time you play, your Ringers scorecard is updated to reflect your personal best hole score when compared along side the other times you played the course. For example, the first time you play Ken McDonald you post a 5 on the first hole during your stroke play that day. So far, your Ringers scorecard would show a 5. The next time out you make a 4 during your round; therefore, updating your Ringers scorecard to reflect a 4 as your Ringers score for hole number one. This idea is used for all 18 holes until the conclusion of the fifth round. At this point you turn in a final Ringers Card showing your best overall 18 hole score built out of the different times you played. Our Ringers field will be broken out by handicaps into FIXED flights based upon your handicap FOLLOWING THE THIRD RINGERS EVENT ROUND. While you can join the Ringers competition prior to any of the five events, only rounds played after you have paid your Ringers entry fee will be allowed to build your Ringers scorecard. Players must be SGL members in good standing and have recorded a minimum of 10 SGL rounds to insure fair play. Ringers competition will AWARD winners by flight for both GROSS & NET Ringers scores. Your NET score is simply your adjusted score after applying your handicap. As in most AGA events, a player can win either the GROSS or NET but not both. Should a player finish in the top spot in both categories, that player will be awarded the GROSS position and will be skipped in the NET category allowing for another winner. A PAYOUT SCHEDULE WILL BE USED AS FOLLOWS based upon the current 21 players entered thus far. A best attempt was made to group players in a close handicap range for each flight. This should prove to give SGL our best competition. If more players join Ringers they will be added to the appropriate flight by handicap.
Total number of players for each
of the 4 flights will be determined As stated in the Ringers Outline, the Ringers competition was broken out into a total of four (4) flights by member’s SGL handicaps. Because Ringers is played out over several months, FINAL FLIGHTS were determined after the date of the third round and will REMAIN FIXED for the duration of the event. This should give balance to having current handicap levels for final flights while avoiding last minute flight alterations because some handicaps moved over the course of the event. FINAL PAYOUT SCHEDULE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
