| Return Home Click here to sign up for membership The Saturday Golf League is a 25+ year old Phoenix area golf association. The league schedules Saturday golf events weekly throughout the year at the many top ranked courses around the state of Arizona. Most of the courses scheduled are in or around the Phoenix Metro area with over 100 different championship courses played in the last 5 years. We welcome golfers of all levels and genders, including couples, who enjoy competition and would like to improve their tournament skills. The format of the SGL is individual stroke play with prize payouts to the low net scores in each flight. In addition, we offer optional side games at every event such as skins, closest to the pin, low putts, etc. USGA rules govern play (except for a couple of Pace of Play rules to speed up play) unless otherwise noted by the course or the league and players are flighted for competition within the same skill level. The SGL also belongs to the Arizona Golf Association. New players are encouraged to play 5 qualifying rounds to establish a SGL handicap index and to check out our league for future membership. Once these requirements are met, the player can decide to join the league by paying the annual membership dues of $40. (you do not have to pay any dues before your qualifying rounds are complete and you decide to join) This membership will run a full year from the date of your payment. The cost to play a particular event is negotiated by the league and posted on the league schedule. The posted cost of play includes green fees, tax, cart, service fees, range balls, $5 flight net game, $2 to the Championship pool and $2 administration fee. Optional side games are also available at extra costs to members and qualifiers, i.e. skins ($3), low putts ($2), deuces ($2), closest to the pin, and so forth.
